Default Where to donate nearly new supplies.

Hello Ladies;

My name is Mark, and I am hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

My beloved mother, of only 57 years, is in the process of transitioning out of this life into the next, due to advanced breast cancer.

She has collected, over the past 2 or 3 years, several machines, and supplies for scrapbooking, card making, embossing, and (embellishing?) planners. Lots of some decorative type tape she likes......As much as I know that I want to treasure all items that her hands have touched, I would like these materials to go to good use, instead of sit in a dark storage. I have thought about taking up some of her crafting, but I do not know what I will do when she is no longer with us.

If I decide to donate her items and supplies, could anyone point me in the right direction, please ? I would love to give it to St Jude’s, but I am not sure kids will get use of such items.

Thanks for any help.

If you want to give to St Judes, please contact them and see what they might want. Kids certainly play with paper and tape to make cards etc. I'm not sure they could use machines but you never know. Also if Houston has a women's shelter that might be a place to donate.

See if your local library will accept them for their kids programs.

I'm a couple of hours from Houston on the Texas gulf coast and recently donated a ton of stuff to our local elementary school art department, as well as to our senior center's activity department. You might contact those kinds of institutions first. In past I've also donated especially scrapbooking supplies to the local women's shelter.

If you can't find anyone willing to take the supplies, please post back here and let me know. I have contacts with a local designer in the industry as well as most of the scrapbook shops in the Houston area and would be glad help locate a suitable place for your donations.

I am so sorry for the circumstances behind your query; prayers for you and your family as you deal with your mother's illness.

Sending prayers to you and your family. You could also try middle and senior high schools. They have art departments that could probably use some of your mom's stash. I don't know about the machines. You might think about selling them and making a donation with the money they raise to say a no kill animal shelter in her name. I am sorry to hear of your mother's illness. Judi
