Default 6 x 6 Stencil Storage

I joined Simply Stencils the month the 6 x 6 plastic stencils were added. After collecting a few I realized that I needed a way to store them. I came up with this binder with pockets made from the poly bags that come in my Dazzles and Templates Plus PS kits. I used cardboard from cereal boxes for the covers.

Materials list:
Several 13" x 14" poly bags (each bag will hold 4 pages)
Several pieces of colored card stock cut to 7" x 6" (pages)
2 pieces of chip board or paper board cut to 7.25" x 6.5" (cover)
Scrapbook paper to decorate covers.
Binding machine (I have a Cinch)

Open the top flap of a poly bag and re-close it so that the bag is 14" deep.
Cut the bag lengthwise at 6". You should now have a pocket 6" high by 14" long. You can make two of these long pockets per bag.
Insert a page in each end of the pocket. They should fit end to end and not overlap. Fold the pocket in half between the pages.
Punch holes for binding.
Repeat until you have the desired amount of pages.

Make and decorate the cover.
Punch holes in covers for binding
Follow instructions on your binding machine to assemble and bind pages.

Note: When determining what size comb to use for binding, be sure keep in mind that the binder will get thicker as you add more stencils (I think I put too many pages in mine).

Fun idea. It looks beautiful and is super handy. I have all my stencils and templates in a large binder. I have run out of room in the pocket of the binder for my small stencils. I have been just sticking next to the binder and I am afraid I will lose some that way. Maybe I will try making a small binder too. Thanks for the great idea Judy!

That is such a great idea and yours looks so good. I have mine stored in a 3 ring binder in a plastic envelope that has a velcro fastener but the problem is that I have to pull all the templates out each time I want to use just one. Your idea is so much better. - Daria

I made another one for my metal stencils. It's 5.5" x 9".
My sister salvaged some vinyl pockets a bank was throwing out and they're perfect for stencil storage. I just cut them down to the right depth.
12 pages with stencil pockets on both sides will fill a 1" binding comb.
