Pastel Gel Candle — By: Katie Hacker


  • 2 3/4”x3 1/4” clear glass ivy bowl
  • 3/4 cup of clear gel wax
  • red liquid candle dye
  • yellow liquid candle dye
  • blue liquid candle dye
  • 2 3/4” length of wicking
  • wick clip
  • black pen
  • 1/2” wide pink sheer ribbon
  • aluminum foil






Designer Tip: This pretty pastel candle project is so easy to complete and makes a sweet gift for girlfriends, mothers and sisters. Getting married soon? Light up your reception tables by using one of these dazzling candles for each centerpiece!  


  1. Melt 1/4 cup of gel wax and mix in one drop of yellow dye. Let the gel wax cool in the pan, then turn out the wax onto a piece of aluminum foil. Repeat using 1/4 cup of gel wax and one drop of red dye, then turn out onto a separate piece of aluminum foil. Repeat again using the final 1/4 cup gel wax, mixing it with one drop of red dye and one drop of blue dye to create purple, then turn out onto a separate piece of aluminum fo
  2. Attach a 2 3/4” length of wick to a wick clip and set the clip in the bottom of the ivy bowl. Cut each color of gel wax into 1/4” pieces and place the gel pieces in the ivy bowl, alternating colors as you go. Trim the wick to 1/4” above the gel wax.
  3. Cut a 10” length of pink sheer ribbon and wrap it around the neck of the ivy bowl. Tie the tails together with a knot, then trim each tail into an inverted “V”.
