Medallion Necklace — By Susan Cobb

  1. Warm the clay in your hands, then form a smooth 1/2" ball. Press the ball into the round pendant, filling it. Turn the pendant over and press against a clean work surface to flatten the top of the clay.
  2. Ink the stamp (I used the round medallion image, third image from the bottom right on the stamp sheet). Turn the pendant over and place the clay side of the pendant centered on the stamp. Press the pendant onto the stamp, then pull it up.
  3. Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Bake the pendant for 25-30 minutes. Do not over bake. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  4. Place a drop of alcohol blending solution on the plastic. Add a drop of the stream ink nearby, and a drop of butterscotch ink nearby. Use the brush to mix some of the stream with the butterscotch, then paint over the cooled baked clay in the pendant. Add more stream ink to some areas. If it gets darker than you like, you can blot it with a tissue or paper towel before it dries, or apply some blending solution to the piece with a brush to remove some excess.
