To My Teacher — By: Paris Dukes

Start the new school year off right with this colorful card! Elementary school teachers are sure to love the primary color scheme and adorable artwork cut-outs.

For the Card Front:

  1. Place the card with the fold on the left, then trim 1 1/8" off the right side of the card front. Cover the card front with light blue textured paper.
  2. Cut a 3 1/2"x6 1/4" piece of red textured paper. Cut out the envelope and fold in the flaps, then glue centered about 1 1/2" from the bottom edge of the red textured paper. Run a 4 1/2" length of black grosgrain ribbon across the red textured paper, overlapping the center of the envelope. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around the edges of the paper and secure on the back. Glue the red textured paper centered on the card front and add a black mini brad to each corner.
  3. Cut out the "Library Card" and use a black pen to journal "to my" across the top. Glue it at an angle with the bottom tucked into the top of the envelope. Add a black mini brad to each end of the "teacher" ribbon fragment and use foam tape to attach it across the "Library Card", just under the journaling.  Add a black mini brad to each corner of the apple tile artwork and use foam tape to attach it centered over the front of the envelope, overlapping the ribbon length.

For the Card Inside:

  1. Cover the inside of the card with lime textured paper. Cut out the alphabet border and glue it down the right edge of the card inside, about 1/16" from the edge, and trim any excess even with the edges of the card.
  2. Cut out the blank yellow and red ribbon fragments and use a black pen to journal "thank" and "you" separately onto the fragments. Add a black mini brad to each end of both fragments, then use foam tape to attach them at varying angles, centered on the inside of the card.
