Bugs — By: LeNae Gerig

Designer Tip: Springtime is full of sunshine, gardening, flowers–and of course, bugs! Use LeNae’s sweet 8”x8” layout to pay tribute to your own little tot and his tiny six-legged friends.

  1. Use the green with circles paper as the background. Cut a 1 7/8” wide strip of lime textured paper and mat the long edges on red cardstock, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Glue the matted strip 5/16” in from the right edge of the page.
  2. Mat a vertical photo on lime textured paper, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Mat again on red cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Glue the matted photo 7/8” from the left edge and 3/16” from the bottom edge of the page. Cut out the tag overlay and use alphabet stamps and a black StazOn ink pad to stamp the name across the white portion of the tag. Apply glue behind the white portion of the tag and attach the tag at an angle over the top left corner of the photo. Cut out the “kid stuff” overlay and attach it next to the bottom left edge of the photo with a lime mini brad in each end.
  3. Cut out the “Bugs” overlay and punch a hole in each end. Cut a 3” and a 4” length of red/white striped ribbon, trimming the tails of each at an angle. Run about 1” of the shorter length up through the hole on the left end of the overlay and about 1” of the longer length up through the right end of the overlay, then fold the 1” pieces over and secure over the rest of the ribbon length with a lime mini brad. Lay the overlay centered above the photo, then wrap the ribbon tails around the edges of the page and secure on the back to hold the overlay in place.
  4. Cover one stereo slide mount with blue dotted paper. Wrap a length of red/white gingham ribbon around the large edge of the slide mount, knotting the tails together on the front of the slide mount and trimming the tails at an angle. Turn the slide mount so the large edge is on the right, then cut out the ladybug overlay and add it to the window of the slide mount.
  5. Cut out the snail and bumblebee overlays and add glue to the back of the overlays (behind the colored images), then attach them over the lime textured strip down the right side of the page as shown with the ladybug slide mount in the center. Cut two 3” lengths of red grosgrain ribbon and trim the tails of each at an angle. Tie a knot in the center of each ribbon length, then use Glue Dots™ to attach one knotted ribbon above both the snail and bumblebee overlays.
