Celebrate — By: Paris Dukes

Designer Tip: A fun, coordinated color scheme sets a cheerful tone for this sweet birthday layout while ribbons and artwork attached with foam tape add tons of texture and dimension.

  1. Use the yellow with stitched stripes border paper as the background, orienting the paper so the border runs down the left edge. Mat two horizontal photos on orange textured paper, trimming the mats to 1/8”. Mat both photos on one vertical piece of red textured paper, trimming the mats around the edges to 3/16” and leaving about 1” of space between the two photos. Glue the mat about 3/4” in from the border and 1/4” from the bottom edge. Cut out the three buttons from the artwork and use foam tape to attach them across the space between the two photos. Cut out the “party time”, “celebrate” and “special day” word fragments and use foam tape to attach them around the edges of the photos, as shown.
  2. Cut out the “Celebrate” title and glue it about 1/4” down from the top edge of the page, leaving the right end of the title unglued. Cut a 1 1/2” strip of red/white gingham ribbon. Tuck one tail of the ribbon under the right end of the title, then glue the ribbon flat running down the page and glue down the right end of the title. Cut out the tags and use a black pen to journal onto them, then glue them at varying angles, covering up the loose end of the ribbon length. Cut four 8” lengths of red/white gingham ribbon. Tie each length into a shoestring bow and trim the tails at an angle. Use a Glue Dot™ to attach one bow to the top of the tags and to attach the remaining three bows down the border of the page.
  3. Fold up the bottom right corner of the background paper, then cut a square of red textured paper and glue it behind the background paper to fill in the bottom right corner. Cut out number tiles to represent the age and use foam tape to attach them over the folded area.
