Designer Tips:
- Place your watercolor paper on your work surface. Apply the sepia marker with the brush tip angled on the outline of the stamp, lightly mist the stamp with water (2 sprays), then stamp on the center of your watercolor paper. Wet the #10 brush with water and soften the stamped lines of the image. Use the extra-fine tip of the sepia marker to add definition and the veins of the leaves (the outline of the leaves/berries will probably be incomplete, and that’s ok. So don’t fill in missing lines—just enhance the lines that are there). Soften the veins of the leaves with the wet brush. Add the tiny lines to the berries indicating stems.
- Wet the #10 round brush and use it to obtain color from the #187 pencil (tan) and partially paint in the lighter side of the leaves, leaving some areas white. Add a small amount of green using the same technique with the #168 pencil. Add light layers of green (#168) and blue (#151) on the darker side of the leaves. Add tan and brown (#187, 176) on the stem.
- Use the same technique to add light red color to the berries (#126). Let dry, then add more color to some areas, using the small brush as needed. Add a small amount of red on the stem and leaves as shown. Let dry. Use the extra-fine tip of the marker to enhance any lines that need more definition.
- Use the #10 brush to apply clean water to the background. Add blue, green, and tan in areas as shown. Let dry.
- Use the #10 brush to obtain some green and blue watercolor with plenty of water on the brush. Practice dropping some of the paint from the brush onto scrap paper, until you have the look you want. Now add drops on your watercolor paper over the design. Now obtain a small amount of white chalky paint plus water and practice dropping the paint on scrap paper again. Add drops to your design.
- Place your card with the fold at the top. Cover the card with red cardstock. Trim the watercolor paper to 6 1/2"x4” and mat the long sides on black cardstock with 1/16” borders. Glue the watercolor design centered on the card. Place Tiny Christmas Words Dazzles™ “Merry Christmas” on the left side of the card as shown. Place Silver Jewel Border Dazzles™ on the top and bottom edges of the card. Use 1/4" wide green organdy ribbon to tie a bow. Zot™ the bow below the words as shown.
