|Balloon Pop-Up Card
By Gail Booth
Designer Tip: Glue a 2” strip of Sweet Life striped paper on the bottom of 8¾”x6¼” confetti dot paper. Use a long edge of the sugar label template to trace and cut the short edges as shown. Mat on pink cardstock with 1/8” borders (glue in place well). Score a line down the center of your card, 4½” from either edge. Place the alignment nibs on the pop-up die over the center fold of your card with the cutting blades against the card, centering the die vertically, and secure with stencil tape. Run through the machine, then remove the cutting die and stencil tape. Valley fold along the center score line, then back fold the left half of the front card panel around the rectangle to create the Pull Card. Cut a “spinner” (the “v” shaped cutting die) from confetti dot paper. Fold along the center score line created by the cutting die, place ultra tape on both outer ends and align the cut ends of the folded strip along the fold, with the strip pointing downward. Close your card to attach the opposite side with correct placement. Open your card to see the lower part of the spinner pop up. Use the Design Tool Kit to trace and cut balloons from different colors of the Shimmer Sheetz, foam tape in a cluster, then foam tape to the left side of the spinner, making sure that the balloons are hidden behind the front rectangle when the card is closed. Die-cut “strings” from Shimmer Sheetz and Zot™ onto the back of the balloons. I used the Fancy Ticket shape behind the balloon on the front label and the Happy Burst and Circle for the center. The semi-circle tuck slot can be used to hold the card closed.
